The GX4000 is based an 8-bit playing console of the manufacturer Amstrad and on the home computer models CPC 464 pluses and CPC 6128 pluses.

The console was equipped neither with a keyboard nor with a diskette CONTROLLER. One could attach with a card location for play cartridges the equipment directly to the television by SCART connection and with two control-learns to play.

In the weddings of the CPCs a (Wolfgang Noisternig, also well-known as "“The Cranium"”) was, the play console to an adequate CPC6128 plus "“back-built"”.
