The Macintosh plus was a computer model of the company Apple. It was introduced in the year 1986 and was until 1990 in the program.

The Macintosh plus had as processor Motorola 68000 with 8 MHz clock frequency and was based on the housing of the Macintosh 128 K and 512 K with inserted 9-Zoll-Bildschirm (512x342 pixel, mono chrome), possessed however more main memory (1 MT, expandable on 4 MT), a larger ROM (128 KB instead of 64 KB) and an SCSI interface, to which in particular external firm and removable disks could be attached. The housing was at the beginning of beige colors, later platinumgrau.

The Macintosh plus was marked in the housing by the developers. In addition each coworker taken part in the development considerably was allowed to carry a signature out on a paper, this by means of film stencil into the already existing mold was then corroded. Thus an effect with raised signatures develops on the housing inside. This first master mold lived however not for a long time and it only the first 70,000 of Apple was in such a way poured. Afterwards a second form came, with which one did not operate no more the expensive expenditure of the additional corrosion. More to the signatures in Macintosh models: www.myoldmac.net

The Macintosh plus did not possess an exhaust; it took advantage of rather the fire-place effect. The at the soil and on the top side of housing of the Mac plus may be never taken off. Otherwise the Mac overheats within short time and parts of the hardware scorches through. This particularly applies to the Mac pluses, 512k (e) and the 128k, which did not insert exhausts.

Caution: Although the Macintosh has a suitable connection for a 5.25-Zoll-Laufwerk, one may not attach these old drive assemblies. One can with possibly the CONTROLLER the Mac damage, therefore should only the usual 3.5-Zoll-Laufwerke for 800KB- or Apple drive (drive assembly with 1440 KB) attach. Successor of the Macintosh plus was the Macintosh SE, which with an extension card location and a ADB one equipped.
