One calls ASCII minutes network minutes, which communicate exclusively by means of human being-readable words or at least exclusively by means of human being-readable indications (as only control characters line pagings are certified).

Advantage of this communication form is the fact that such minutes do not require an extra for minutes developed program for communication but (e.g. with the help of a telnet program) can be used directly. It is from disadvantage that the data sets which can be transferred can be very much larger than with conventional network minutes.

ASCII minutes are for example POP3, smtp, HTTP, ftp and IRC.
