The B5000 was a Mainframecomputer, which 1961 were developed by the Burroughs corporation. Burroughs fused 1986 with SPERRY to Unisys.

The B5000 supported the following functions:

• A dual processor with segmented hardware MEMORY
• Implemented as stack machine
• Programmable by means of an extension of ALGOL 60 named Elliot ALGOL

Beside the END user applications the operating system - called MCP (master control program) - was written also in ALGOL.

The expression master control Program was used later in the film Tron.
