Balanced hybrid is a name for a class of Routing minutes, introduced by Cisco. As basis the function of the Enhanced Interior gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) serves categorization, which uses the Diffusing update algorithm (DUAL) for route computation. So far there is no further minutes except EIGRP that as Balanced hybrid Protocol is classified. The designation is based on the fact that EIGRP exhibits both characteristics of distance vector and of left State Routing procedures.
Differently than with most distance vector method updates of the Routing tables are accomplished not periodically, but event-controlled, caused for example by topology changes. Furthermore more topology information are exchanged and adapted Metriken are used.
However the full net topology or the Dijkstra algorithm is not needed, in order to compute scheifenfreie routes.
