A Broadcast domain is a logical group of computers in a local network, which is characterised by the fact that a Broadcast reaches all domain participants.

A local network on the second layer of the OSI model (link layer) consists by its stroke, Switches and/or Bridges of a Broadcast domain. Only by the partitioning in VLANs or by the employment of routing, which work on layer 3, the Broadcast domain is divided.

A Broadcast domain consists of one or more collision domains.
