Beginning of the 80's developed the German computer manufacturer PC computer of systems the CADMUS Microcomputer and - workstations. The first series was based on Motorola 68000, 68020 and 68030 CISC processor. When 1985 the first RISC processors came on the market, the CADMUS workstations was changed over to MIPS architecture, which were used among other things also with the silicone Graphics workstations. The operating system was its own UNIX Portierung with the name MUNIX.
The arithmetic performance of such RISC workstations within the price range of over 20.000DM was to in the middle of the 80's with approximately 16 MIPS (million instructions per second) with 20MHz clock frequency and maximally 64MByte main memory - an arithmetic performance, which exceeds today each PDA around zig subject.
The CADMUS workstations were world-wide driven out to center of the 90's. After several assumptions by large companies PCs became again independent by a management Buyout in the year 1996. Today terminals for admission, time registration and factory data capture develop PC.
