Chess Assistant is a data base program for the storage of games of chess.

It is manufactured and driven out of in Moscow the residents company Convekta. The first version appeared 1990, up-to-date is at present (October 2005) version 8.1. After the market leader ChessBase is Chess Assistant the furthest common program of this kind and by chess players primarily for opening preparation is used.

The software runs under Microsoft Windows. The volume of data delivered with the program amounts to over 2.7 million portions, which can be scanned for many different, freely combinable criteria (player, place, year, opening, position, material distribution of etc.). An on-line update of the data base is possible. In addition, the storage of the portions effected in prop. guessing eras a data base format, data can be read and exported as portable Game notation. To the analysis of portions several inserted chess programs (under other Chess tiger and Crafty) stand for order, further like e.g. Shredder can be merged by the user. With Chess Assistant can be used also final game data bases, in addition a connection to the Internet Chess club can be made, in order to play or observe on-line portions.
