COMPUTER PICTURE from the Axel Springer publishing house is the present-strongest German computer journal. It appears since 1996 and addresses themselves particularly to inexperienced PC users, who use the operating system Microsoft Windows. Their editor-in-chief is Harald Kuppek.

Beside that COMPUTER PICTURE publishes the publishing house the magazines of computer picture plays and audio video photo picture. All three are part of the picture mark.

Characteristics

All technical terms are always explained and the explanations with many screen photos are illustrated, which particularly a risers everyone mouse-click explanation. However sometimes from the strong simplification of the term explanation the correctness suffers.

In place of usual technical terms often simplified, German technical terms are used. Like that is the speech of

  • Control programs (instead of drivers)
  • Internet access programs (instead of Browsern)
  • Operating programs (instead of operating systems)
  • "“a program overact"” (instead of "“a program"” or Download download)
  • Improvement programs (instead of updates or Patch)
  • Trying versions (instead of demo versions)
  • Internet chatting programs (instead of Instant of measuringclose)
  • Play keyboard (instead of Gamepad or Joystick)

Target group

Beside the strong concentration on Windows users the magazine turns since at the beginning of of 2004 also isolates other operating systems too. Thus the attached booklet CD already contained a SuSE Linux version. From the level above all computer laymen are addressed. Furthermore it offers many useful cheats for PC users, who do not belong necessarily to the computer professionals.
