The home computer CPC5512 was a joke of the French computer magazine "Hebdogiciel" in the year 1985, which was recalled in the next expenditure, but a judicial sequel pulled.
The model was assembled of computer parts and something paper and photographed afterwards. The model was without function and was naturally never produced.
Amstrad sold at the same time its CPC 6128 model and worked on its later IBM-compatible models. In expectation of the CPC 5512 the sales figures of the CPC 6128 on the French market decreased/went back, about what Amstrad were not pleased and its of trade partners. One exerted the courts, from the exit of the procedure is however nothing well-known.
The effects of the article otherwise succeeded could them be avoided with a rectification in the same expenditure, took place however only in the next expenditure.
Independently of the French April joke the German computer journal actually published a guidance c't in October 1987, how a CPC of 6128 with 512 KByte memory can be equipped and the result in the article and in several subsequent articles calls 6512" "CPC. In the building guidance designed for hobby and amateur users (firmly soldered) the RAM components in the computer were replaced by such with higher capacity and the new address lines over ICs additionally which can be inserted were addressed. Logically the extended memory, similar as in the Hebdogiciel magazine described, was accessible over Bankswitching. Due to missing support in (anyway only on 64 KByte main storage laid out) the AMSDOS and CP/M operating systems of the CPC the auxiliary memory could be used only in or in the context of the project published programs even written. Most important Standardanwendung might have been both under AMSDOS and under CP/M accessible RAM disk.
