The Crypto service Provider (CSP) makes kryptografische functions available in the context of Microsoft CryptoAPI.

Beside CSPs with fundamental kryptografischen algorithms (e.g. .RSA), the kryptografischen functions can extend also to a smart card (Smart Card), a Smart Card CSP are thus Microsoft counterpart to PKCS#11, thus a middleware for the use of smart cards.

Smart Card CSP

A Smart Card CSP is adapted in each case to specific smart card operating system and applies on this file and security structures, best in accordance with PKCS#15. Since PKCS#11 is more powerful than the CSP interface, many CSP touch down on a PKCS#11.

Windows identifies the CSP which can be used to a smart card over the Answer ton to RESETs of the map, since this is registered into the Registry.

Microsoft makes its own cousin available since autumn 2005 a Smart Card CSP, to which in the reason a further more specific interface represents this type.
