That programmable computer D2 (Dresden 2) was a type of computer from the GDR.
It was sketched and built between 1956 and 1959 to the TH Dresden. Its technical designer is Professor N.J. Lehmann, Vater of many computers from Dresden.
The D2 was, like its predecessor D1, a tube computer. It had however already 1400 electron tubes, thus reached it a speed of operation of 1000 FLOPS. Its drum storage could store 4096 words, a word corresponded thereby to 56 bits. The D2 had 11 registers and 320 quick-access storages. In addition it had a assembler-similar programming.
Successors of the D2 were the digital computers D3 and D4.
