The electronics Discrete variable AUTOMATIC computer or EDVAC a computer designed by J. Presper Eckert and John W is. Mauchly (both from the ENIAC group) from the late 40's. The crucial innovation of the EDVAC opposite earlier calculating machines like the ENIAC or the ASCC consisted of treating the instructions of the program like the data which can be processed to code and process in the internal memory it binary. This concept is called today of Neumann architecture and is described for the first time in an internal paper during the development of the EDVAC von John von Neumann ("“roofridge Draft OF A report on the EDVAC"”). It made a very much faster processing possible in relation to programs on an external paper tape.
