The Enterprise home computer was a Zilog Z80 based computer, which appeared for the first time in the year 1985. Two variants were produced: the Enterprise 64 with 64K RAM and the Enterprise 128 with 128K. In the equipment there was two coprocessors for the sound (audio chip "nod") and the diagram (video chip "Dave") (these chips were designated after their designers nod Toop and Dave Woodfield)
The computer had a Z80 CCU with 4 MHz, 64K or 128K RAM and 48K ROM, in which the EXOS operating system and the programming language BASIC was accommodated. In the ROM additionally a text processing program was inserted. The housing of the computer was singular in its way, since in it both the keyboard with programmable function keys and a small Joystick were accommodated. In Germany the computer under the name Mephisto PHC 64 by the company Hegener & Glaser was driven out starting from 1985, who had before driven already successfully electronic chess computers out in the German market. The equipment was sold in May 1985 at a price by 1198 Marks (inclusive VAT.).
