By overload and/or back-up price increase one understands techniques for avoidance and dissolution of back-up (English congestion) in traffic about package-obtained networks. By high QoS requirements, ever more complex lattice structures and the obligation to the efficient utilization of the Backbone range in modern networks frequently simple river control and the Retransmissions procedure (Best Effort service) are not sufficient.
Most common mechanisms to pilot avoidance is the explicit reservation of network range from the Client to the server over the entire network away with appropriate signaling minutes (e.g. RSVP, MPLS). This is called also Integrated service (IntServ).
With the Differentiated service (DiffServ) is converted the observance of traffic contracts against it only by the back-up price increase in routing or Switches. The control takes place via the package classification, Queueing and different algorithms, according to which the packets from the queues are passed on for transmission.
Since these mechanisms can generally be used not only with Verkehrsstaus, but for the figuration of traffic to better extent of utilization from left, are also designations such as Traffic Shaping or German traffic figuration and/or flow of traffic figuration spreads.
