GAN is an abbreviation for global AREA network.

By a GAN one understands a net that world-wide several WANs connects. This can be for example the cross-linking of world-wide locations of an international company. Often with a GAN satellite transmission is used.

Comment: The term GAN is a contradiction in itself, because AREA in German area is called! The GAN takes however the entire globe off, whereby the term would be more suitable GN (global network). This term forms, because the globe of everything is and no area (AREA).
