IDCAMS is a utility program under z/OS for putting on and administration of VSAM files or of GDGs.

With IDCAMS system specialists can administer also catalogs. In former times also the measure of STORAGE subsystem IBM 3850 was administered by means of IDCAMS.

IDCAMS can be accomplished by means of JCL. A further possibility is the call from a user program. Here it is possible to treat the standard input (SYSIN) and standard output (SYSPRINT) instead of with files with own subroutines.

Furthermore all instructions of the IDCAMS are directly feasible as TSO instructions.
