IEEE 802.11e is a planned industry standard institutes of the OF Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and an extension of the Wireless LAN standard IEEE of 802,11 for the support of quality OF service.

Their work locked the IEEE working group busy with the elaboration of the standard in July 2005 and with the final publication is toward at the end of of 2005 to be counted.

802.11e works according to a similar principle as the QoS procedure DiffServ. In addition the packets in the WLAN are marked by the sender and the ACCESS POINT are stopped to treat packages with higher priority preferentially.

By 802.11e applications of real times become like e.g. Voice of over IP better supports, with which a certain guaranteed range in the network is needed, so that it does not come to misfires in the connection, if other network traffic loads the available data transmission rate too strongly.
