By Ingress one understands the penetration of electromagnetic disturbances in coaxial cables, caused e.g. by transmitting plants, household appliances, switch power packs etc. the disturbances arises above all then, if the cable or its shielding is damaged, to patch cords defectively (or badly protected) or the screen measure of the cable is too small.

A further meaning was in-patriated with computer networks in connection with the injection of IP packages with falsified return address. As means against it so-called Ingress filter is used as a component of package filters.
