The Internet Chess club (ICC) is a commercial chess server, which makes possible for chess players from the whole world to find around the clock an adequate play partner.

The Internet Chess club exists since March 1995, predecessor was the Internet Chess server (ICS). One of the prominent developers of the assigned software is Daniel Sleator, professor for computer science to the Carnegie Mellon University, which was honorary involved in the development since 1992 first, the source code then however 1994 by copyright to protect itself left.

Very fast after official opening of the club the number of members grew on over 10.000, although there were some Forks like the Free Internet Chess server (FICS), which offered further free playing. Attractiveness for the chess players lies in the fact justified that the world-best players are member, participate and/or in irregular distances in the play enterprise. Of 13. World champion Garri Kasparow and of 14. World champion Vladimir Kramnik was received and published a multiplicity of played portions.

Each announced member may select a user name, which permits it to it if necessary to keep its true names secret. Many indicated their names however in their user data.

The ICC transfers portions from large master tournaments from the whole world. With particularly important portions competent large masters before a large public commentate the played courses, whereby questions and suggestions are welcome and gladly is answered.

A rival business of the ICC is the German Fritz server of the company ChessBase.
