ipfw (short form for ipfirewall) is a package filter of the FreeBSD operating system. Ipfw designates both the filter code in the Kernel, and the user space program ipfw for adjusting the filter rules. ipfw IPv4 of packages can filter, ipfw2 is also IPv6 to support. Stateful Filtering is supported. The function range is more netfilter comparable with Linux.

# blocks accesses of evil.crackers.org to nice.people.org TCP haven 23: ipfw ADD deny tcp from evil.crackers.org ton of nice.people.org 23 # lets each package through with UDP haven 53: ipfw ADDs allow UDP from any tons any 53
