Operation an and maintenance center (OMC) is an operating and a maintenance center for telecommunications nets. The OMC has to guarantee the task the enterprise of the net. The emphasis thereby is the traffic management.

To the various tasks of a OMCs it belongs to recognize errors to avoid losses of the net and to each kind of event (overload, loss of connections to react to etc.). The moreover a OMC as well as coworkers converts locally, planning specifications. This contains for example the remote configuration of network components and other remote maintenance activities, like a bringing of new system software in from the distance. Likewise a OMC statistics collects over net traffic. These serve as basis for the future Netzplanung. Not least a OMC operates usually also systems for charging.
