OS/390 is the predecessor of the operating system z/OS. It was the first operating system under a IBM large computer system, which possessed a Unix Personality.

This Personality was called in the first versions of OS/390 open edition. Therefore also the term of the OMVS segment comes under RACF, which is common this very day, although the Unix Personality is called today Unix system services.
