The PC 1715 or robotron 1715 became after its introduction in the year 1985 the standard computer of the GDR in the 80's.

A U880-Chip with 2.5 MHz served the PC1715 as processor, which was identically constructed to the processor ZILOG Z80. The further equipment covered 64 KB RAM, 2 KB ROM as well as 2 floppy disk drives to ever 5.25 tariff also at the beginning of in each case 160 KB and with later devices, dependently on the operating system, to 800 KB each storage capacity.

The PC 1715 is a Desktop PC, whose housing is high 50 cm broad, 40 cm low and 14 cm. Housings, monitor and keyboard weigh together 12.8 kg. As text processing Robotron TP supplied, a dupe of WordStar. For user programming the programming languages basic, Pascal, assembler and FORTRAN as well as the data base system REDABAS (a Dbase ii-copy) were available.

As successor of the A5120 was user program-laterally software-compatible robotron the 1715 to his predecessor. The manufacturer VEB Robotron office machine work "“Ernst Smmerda delivered the successor PC1715W with higher clock frequency (4 MHz) starting from 1987, 256 KB RAM and the version 3.0 operating system of the SCP. The computer could be acquired not in the retail trade, but only by national enterprises and authorities. During the accounting the producer estimated 25000 Marks.
