The Rex 6000 is a complete PDA in the size of a PCMCIA map, it has thus cheque card format.
It is had the successor of the Rex 5001 and (contrary to the predecessor) a Touchscreen. It is supplied by two flat button cells with river and has one Z80-compatible processor as well as 2 MT Flash RAM (keeps the data also in the case of empty batteries). 240 x have mono chrome the display 120 points.
The Rex 6000 was produced by Xircom only short time by August 2001.
For entering data a keyboard is faded in, a handwriting recognition is not not implemented. The standard design has an American key layout and had the following programs:
By provided software the Rex 6000 can be synchronized with a PC or a laptop. Either one puts it directly into a PCMCIA Slot or attaches him over the provided Docking station to the PC.
Findige of people soon had found out that there was a similar mini PDA in Japan named Dataslim2 (DS2) of Citizen, for which a SDK were available. With its assistance it succeeded to them to write various supplementary product lines which were made available all together free of charge, e.g. play, date overview, scientific computers, mark program, mini Piano and much different one. With the help of a special program some owners changed the keyboard layout and the inserted character set: developed not only various Central European Rex 6000-Versionen, but even Greek, cyrillic and Hebrew.
