The SuperGrafx is produced a 16-bit play console of the company NEC from Japan.

History

The SuperGrafx was brought of NEC in the year 1989 as successor console for the PC engine on the Japanese market. It - a pure 16-bit console - should represent an answer to the competition freshly developed by super NES and mega drive.

The new system offered downward compatibility to to PC the engine, more colors and larger Sprites. Since the differences to the and the number of plays were too small altogether however, many video players refrained in view of a high price from the purchase of the SuperGrafx. This led to the fact that NEC 1991 stopped production and again completely the PC engine turned.

Plays

The plays for the SuperGrafx were brought out as for the PC engine on Hu-Cards, which an important foundation-stone for the downward compatibility of the SuperGrafx was.
