System X is a supercomputer to the Virginia Tech University in the USA stands. In former times cluster also admits as Terascale.

That originally consisted of 1.000 Apple PowerMac PowerPC 970 G5 dual 2,0 GHz computers, obtained an arithmetic performance of approximately 10 TeraFLOPS and jumped at that time directly on the 3. Place of the Top 500.

The Terascale cluster was replaced some months later after negotiations with Apple by 1.100 Xserve PowerPC 970FX G5 dual 2,3 GHz (it gives to again only buy since January 2005). Obtained now and at present (Nov. 2005) on that 20 stands for about 12,3 TeraFLOPS. Place of the Top 500 list of the supercomputers.
